This site is a former fertilizer plant in the Town Center. Documented widespread pollution concerns have extensively impacted public health and the environment for more than 65 years.

DEC's Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Site profile reported:

“This site consists of an inactive lagoon and an inactive 'over the bank' disposal dump.”

DEC’s "ASSESSMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS” determined "water beneath this site is contaminated by nitrates and dieldrin in exceedence of the NYS Part 703 groundwater standards."
